Announcing Almanac, with Andy Ihnatko

Today we are thrilled to unveil a new show that Andy Ihnatko has been working on. Almanac is an audio exploration of all of the things that pique Mr. Ihnatko's interest. He'll be covering the news of the week that has caught his eye, as well as bringing together a cavalcade of interesting characters to discuss topics ranging from the arts, to modern life, to technology. In Andy's own words, 'You'll never know what you'll find inside, but you'll find it interesting'.

Andy has been such a pleasure to work with as one of the hosts of the Material podcast, and we couldn't be more excited to be working with him on this new show. We're really excited to see the ways that Andy is going to be pushing the format of his show in to wonderful and varied areas, to create something different to what you've heard before.

Episode 1 of Almanac is available today, so go subscribe now!

Introducing Mixed Feelings

Today, we're very pleased to announce the newest show on Relay FM: Mixed Feelings.

It's a show about news, politics and pop culture.

Every episode, hosts Quinn Rose and Gillian Parker talk about their favorite stories of the week. Topics vary from the serious to the silly, with most episodes featuring at least one random current even that has nothing to do with ... anything, really.

Mixed Feelings is a new kind of show for Relay FM, and we are super excited about it. Gillian and Quinn are great together, and while their points of view on the world don't always agree, the show is always respectful, thoughtful and entertaining.

You can subscribe to Mixed Feelings a bunch of different ways:

Relay FM for iOS Update Adds iMessage Stickers

When considering the next update to our app, we didn't have to look any further than Myke's sticker-covered laptop and iPads.

You can now cover your iMessage conversations with artwork inspired by your favorite Relay FM podcasts. Bringing jokes from the shows into your conversations is easy as a tap and drag on your iPhone or iPad.

Our app is powered by Tapjet, an amazing platform for building and updating the content within iOS apps. Testing new stickers and content is as easy as uploading to a folder for previewing.

Version 1.5 of the Relay FM app is free and can be downloaded from the App Store now.

Introducing new Relay FM T-shirts and Stickers

We're happy to announce new t-shirts and stickers are now for sale over on our Merch Store:

Both shirts are printed on TeeSpring's Premium shirt in a rather fetching gray. Sizing information can be seen on the individual product pages.

We are keeping the old t-shirts on the store until stock is depleted. They've been marked down, so if you want one of that design, act quickly!

In addition to the new shirts, we have a sticker using the art that Myke got tattooed on his arm.

We don't recommend you apply these to your arms. That's going to sting when you take it off.

Both items are in stock today and will ship starting tomorrow, September 16.

Introducing Free Agents

Last year at WWDC, I had tea with Myke, Jason Snell and David Sparks.

At the time, I was on the fence about leaving my job to work on Relay FM full-time. It made sense on paper, but I was nervous about taking my fate into my own hands.

All three of them were already independent, and were very open about the challenges and rewards that working for yourself brings. (I think they'll admit there was a little peer pressure going on too, but that's beside the point.)

Today, Jason and David are launching a new fortnightly podcast named Free Agents. It's all about work, and while they are both self-employed, the topics on Free Agents are applicable to all sorts of people.

Here are some topics on the list:

  • Collaboration
  • Work/Life balance
  • Mobile working
  • Hiring and firing
  • Email management
  • Passion projects vs. paying the bills

In addition to topical episodes, David and Jason will be interviewing creators and entrepreneurs. It's going to be a lot of fun, and you should go check out the first episode now.
