141 episodes

This morning, with Virtual #20, we've published 141 episodes under the Relay FM banner.

It's hard to believe that we launched just 20 weeks ago.

Our first two quarters were full of surprises. In that short time, we were heavily featured in the iTunes Store and most third-party apps. We added a handful of new shows, shipped countless stickers and have gotten to know so many new people online. Oh, and Myke quit his job.

Without our listeners, Relay FM wouldn't be the success it is today. We'd like to thank you for downloading the shows, reviewing them in iTunes, sharing them with friends and being all-around awesome.

In the coming weeks and months, we'll be unveiling some new projects, with new people. We believe a diversity in content and hosts is needed in podcasting, and we have some really great things to share soon.

Until then, here's to 2015.

The Relay FM store is open for business

To be honest, we thought about calling our store the Merch Table, after the spot bands sell shirts during concerts, but we're just not that cool.

Starting today, you can order Relay FM stickers and shirts.

We're thrilled to be working with Nock Co on the logistics end of this. The shirts are printed in Atlanta, GA, and all of the merchandise is being shipped from their headquarters.

We hope you enjoy the merchandise. We have plans for more; if there's something you'd like to see in the store, let us know!

Please note that orders placed this week will ship out after Thanksgiving.

Netscape Navigator Follow-up

Listener Maik wrote in about a joke Federico made on Connected Ep 12 about Netscape Navigator:

He told the audience to point their "Netscape Navigator" to the shownotes URL, so here's how this actually looks on Netscape Navigator 4.07, which has no idea what CSS is. I went into my cellar where my collection of old Unix machines sits, fired up the SGI Indigo2 running IRIX 6.5, made a few screenshots and exported the page to Postscript (and then converted that to PDF later). So, here you go :-)

It's amazing how far the Internet has come.

All Bets Are Off

The Bionic podcast on 5by5 started out life as a show about 'technology and media ecosystems', hosted by Matt Alexander and Myke Hurley.

However at Episode 51, things took a bit of a turn. After this point Matt and Myke let everything go and started to create a show they seemed destined to make.

Bionic became a podcast with a devoted audience of people who helped create some rather peculiar things, that all added up to something rather beloved.

However, as Matt's business grew and Myke started to work on new plans of his own, it became harder to make time for the show. So it therefore came to an end.

However, Matt and Myke missed each other too much. So they're back!

Bonanza! will be a (most likely) monthly cavalcade of incredible-ness from your favourite British podcast duo.

The first episode will be recorded live on November 4th after Matt joins Myke on Inquisitive. The show will be available to download afterwards.

Get your special trousers ready. It's time to tear them away.

Introducing two new podcasts by Jason Snell

One of the best parts of working in this industry is getting to know your heroes. Unlike NBA stars or musicians, most people in our corner of the Internet will reply to a Tweet or respond to an email, dispensing advice, support and more.

For me, Jason Snell is one of those guys. I have enjoyed his podcasting for years, and have read his articles for Macworld for even longer.

Today, Jason announced that he's leaving IDG after 17 years of service. In addition to his work on The Incomparable, Jason is launching two technology shows, right here on Relay FM.

Clockwise (moving to Relay FM from IDG) is a 30-minute panel show covering the week's top topics. Upgrade is a new podcast in which Jason will look at Apple, Amazon, Google and more through the lens of his years of experience covering technology.

Jason's one of the nicest people around, and Myke and I were honored when he proposed the arrangement, and we couldn't be happier to bring these two shows to the network.
